The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild patch 1.1.1 brings noticeable frame-rate improvements to Nintendo Switch - reports

The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild's frame-rate has reportedly improved on the Nintendo Switch thanks to the most recent patch.

Although The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild received almost universally perfect scores at launch, one of the most common complaints were about the game's poor performance in a lot of spots.

This was true on both the Nintendo Switch as well as the Wii U, though the latter suffered the brunt of them. It was revealed that playing the game in handheld mode on the Switch is the only way to get rid of most of these issues, which obviously isn't everyone's favourite way of playing.

Things went quiet for a few weeks, but frame-rate talk started happening again following last week's patch. Patch notes did not mention anything of substance, so fans decided to take matters into their own hands and see if any performance improvements were made.

It turns out, at least as far as the Switch version is concerned, there have indeed been some frame-rate improvements. Multiple reports on Reddit indicate that some of the worst offenders now run better after installing patch 1.1.1.

Though we've yet to get a full analysis from the likes of Digital Foundry, two basic frame-rate tests from YouTubers ElAnalistaDeBits (below) and NX Gamer (above) do in fact show a nice frame-rate bump.

No tests were conducted on the Wii U version, which is a bit of a shame. We'll have to wait and see if that version has also seen improvements from the patch.
