New Overwatch audio file datamine turns up evidence of holiday event

Overwatch holiday event? Seems like a no-brainer after the Olympics and Halloween.

Overwatch dataminers have turned up a stack of audio files hinting at what's next for the Blizzard shooter.

The files include what sounds a heck of a lot like a Christmas version of the Overwatch theme, which suggests a holiday event is inbound.

The clips also include the voice of computer Athena saying the phrase "now entering the arena" as well as "challenger" and "gladiator", which may hint at a new Overwatch mode, as we've seen with past holiday events. Blizzard did say new Overwatch maps and modes were coming.

The files also include a bunch of cute Overwatch hero interactions and other goodies. You can check them all out on Reddit (via PC Gamer).

My favourite result from audio file data mining is someone linking together Soldier76 spooling off some cautious advice with Tracer's unheard "Okay, dad" line. I hope this is Blizzard's way of acknowledging an Overwatch fandom truth: Soldier76 is everyone's honorary dad.
