Horizon: Zero Dawn's open world is a lot more complex than you think

All sorts of factors will have an impact on gameplay.

The latest trailer for Horizon: Zero Dawn is all about "creating a new world."

Art director Jan-Bart van Beek describes the games' "eco-topes" that each have their own variety of machines and environments. As well as the forest area we've already seen, we get a glimpse of the harsher deserts, snowy mountain peaks, jungles, and ancient ruins.

In addition to the day and night cycle, Horizon: Zero Dawn has a dynamic weather system within these eco-topes and all of these factors work together to affect the gameplay.

Even if you've no interest in the developer side of things, the video is worth a watch to get a peek at the gameplay alone - it looks fantastic.

Horizon: Zero Dawn is scheduled for release for PS4 on February 28, 2017.
