Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare disc required to play Modern Warfare Remastered

If you were thinking of returning Infinite Warfare, think again.

Activision is curtailing any sneaky ideas you might have about buying Infinite Warfare for the Modern Warfare remaster and returning it or selling it on.

It turns out that Modern Warfare will only work as long as the Infinite Warfare disc is inserted.

The Modern Warfare Remastered FAQs read: "you must own Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare in order to get Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Remastered," while the fine print on the Modern Warfare Remastered website says, in no uncertain terms, that "Modern Warfare Remastered is a full game download (game disc must be inserted to play Modern Warfare Remastered)."

If you're buying digital, this is neither here nor there.

With such mixed reactions to Infinite Warfare, it seems Activision want to ensure that no one thinks of playing silly buggers by picking up the game and returning it or selling it on once they've downloaded the Modern Warfare remaster.

You can grab Infinite Warfare on PC, PS4, and Xbox One on November 4. PS4 players that have pre-ordered will be able to play the Modern Warfare Remastered campaign from October 5.
