The flaming battle axe in Destiny: Rise of Iron is too big and heavy to be real, but this blacksmith made a pretty good fake

Destiny: Rise of Iron's most iconic weapon, lovingly recreated in real life.

To promote Destiny: Rise of Iron, Bungie had Blacksmith shop Sword and Stone recreate Lord Saladin's flaming battle axe.

The gorgeous replica is smaller than the "real" axe you'll see in Rise of Iron, and is hollow, because the weapon as depicted in-game would be impossible for a normal human to wield comfortably - somewhere in the range of 100 pounds (45kg). The fact that Destiny's weapons are exaggerated should come as no surprise to anybody who's really looked at a hand cannon.

It's really interesting to see the beautiful weapon put together, although with Destiny: Rise of Iron releasing in a few weeks I don't know how much more anticipation we can handle.

Destiny: Rise of Iron will release on PS4 and Xbox One, and brings all sorts of new content to the shared-worlds shooter - including the flaming battle axe.
