The Witcher 3 Enhanced Edition mod makes combat as devilishly difficult as Dark Souls

If you like Dark Souls, this new Witcher 3 mod will be right up your alley.

The Witcher 3 is generally agreed to be a pretty darn good game. It was named game of the year at the 2016 GDC Awards after all.

But could it have been better? One modder thinks so, and has taken it upon themselves to overhaul the gameplay in the Enhanced Edition mod.

Reaperrz's mod brings new stats, skills, and abilities to the game. The combat and damage systems have been tweaked too, along with a bunch of other mechanics.

This is basically The Witcher 3 on hardcore Dark Souls mode, but for those of you who aren't quite ready to be thrown into the deep end, you can tweak the recommended defaults to your heart's desire to ease yourself in, or just turn off the bits you don't like.

Most of the changes come into effect in combat, with Geralt's armour weight playing a part in his movement speed, as well as new stats like poise and vigor (that replaces the old adrenline), and the changes to the way old stats worked.

Dodging has been nerfed and actions like oiling your sword and drinking potions are accompanied by animations, so you can't just chug them down in the middle of a fray without getting some distance between you and your enemies first.

It's all very involved, so if you're interested, you can watch the video to see the various changes in action, or head over to the mod's download page to peruse the list of additional content for yourself.
