Berserk trailer shows Guts in action, complete with Dragon Slayer sword looking "like a heap of raw iron"

Faithful to the source material.

If you're not familiar with Berserk, you may not know that primary protagonist Guts is famous for using enormous weapons - a consequence of his growing up among mercenaries, using equipment designed for full-size adults.

His most famous blade is Dragon Slayer, a zweihänder over 6' long. It's described in the manga as being more like a big old slab of metal than a true sword blade, as it's more than 1" thick in the middle, and about 12" wide. Although it has some unique properties (after so many years of slaying evil creatures, it has absorbed some magic of its own) it's mainly just the enormous weight that makes it so deadly.

Guts has many other interesting abilities and equipment (his Berserker Armour, magnet hand and the repeating crossbow he sometimes attaches to his forearm, for example), but the huge sword he wields is as iconic as his missing eye and cape. It's no surprise Keoi Tecmo made it the focus of this new trailer for their upcoming video game adaptation; it certainly seems a better advertisement for an action game than the last one, especially as we actually see some gameplay this time.

Berserk is coming in 2017 to PC, PS4 and Vita - hopefully in time to capitalise on interest in the new anime launching in July this year. Developed by Omega Force, it's a new entry in the broad Warriors (or Musou) family.
