Torment: Tides of Numenera releasing Q1 2017, all backers given beta access

Torment: Tides of Numenera will not be releasing this year, inXile has confirmed.

In a backer update on Kickstarter, the developer said the RPG is expected to launch in the first quarter of 2017.

We had anticipated a launch within calendar 2016, so this is something of a disappointment. InXile said the delay accounts for a six month process of iteration - and localisation of the 1 million words of text in the game. A mysterious publishing partner is helping with that, apparently; we can probably expect details during E3 2016.

In the meantime, to make up for the wait, inXile is granting beta access to all crowdfunding backers whose reward tier includes the final game; the January release only extended to certain tiers.

Dying Light developer Techland, which recently jumped into the publishing business, will handle retail distribution of Torment: Tides of Numenera.
