Vive orders will now be fulfilled in a timely fashion

HTC has issued on update on the appalling mess that has been buying a Vive VR headset until now.

From now on, the manufacturer vows, if you purchase a Vive from its website, that Vive will be shipped within three days. That's shipped as in "left the warehouse", I assume, and not "magically teleported to your house in Nowhere, Ohio" or whatever.

Moreover, there's enough stock that HTC has managed to get the headsets in-store at select Microsoft, GameStop and Micro Center stores. If you pre-ordered through one of these chains, you can expect the retailer to "begin fulfilling orders this week".

HTC wasn't the only company caught out by high demand for virtual reality tech, as the Oculus launch was a shambles, too. It's a good problem for a new tech to have, I guess; lack of early adopters would be a much more serious worry. Not that this is a comfort when you're $800 in the red and glaring at an empty mailbox, I expect.

I'm still really excited about VR and saving up for a headset, but thinking of holding out for the cheaper PlayStation VR now that I've read Matt's Vive review.
