It appears various Fallout 4 mods are popping up for Xbox One without consent from the creators.

Fallout 4 mods are being rehosted on Xbox One without modder consent

One occurrence seems to have been a misunderstanding. DogtoothCG's NCR Ranger Veteran Armor in Spawn Items was quickly removed after the files were obtained in an email exchange.

It was the second most popular mod for Xbox One, and DogtoothCG said he plans to release the next version of the mod to both PC and the console. However, "constant trawling of the web for unauthorized uploads" of the mod is taking up a lot of his time.

Other instances weren't accidental going by this list compiled by redditor Bee-Wry.

Many have modders' backs in this situation, as they should, as having their creations uploaded without their consent is sketchy. However, as you will see in the reddit thread, and in the Bethesda forums, some don't find anything wrong with it. Hopefully, they are in the minority.

Bethesda has since posted a guide on how to have copies of a mod removed from Bethesda.net. Many who have seen a nicked mod have been able to report it to Bethesda directly and the site moderators.

Bethesda officially released mod support for Fallout 4 on Xbox One May 31, and plan to offer mod support on PlayStation 4.

Thanks, PC Gamer.
