Rainbow Six Siege now available in grind-tastic $15 Starter Edition

Ubisoft has introduced a new Rainbow Six Siege Starter Edition with a lowered price tag, which will be available purchase through June 19 only.

A PC exclusive, the $15/£12/€15 version includes full access to the game with no level or content restrictions, but seriously slows down operator unlocks.

You start with up to four operators, and must earn 12,500 Renown to unlock each of the remaining 16 operators. Those who own the full version can pick up new operators for as little as 500 Renown, with the most expensive going for 2,000 Renown.

So while you'll have access to all modes (multiplayer, Terrorist Hunt and Situations), maps, weapons and attachments, and will play on the same servers as everyone else, you'll have to grind like heck to get access to advanced Operators; Ubisoft says it will take as much as 15 hours, as opposed to the two or so it takes in the full release.

You probably will want to get hold of extra Operators, too; you'll start with two random Operators and enough R6 Credits to purchase two more (or whatever else you fancy), which limits your tactical options and ability to provide for good strong team composition. If you get sucked in and would rather just pony up rather than grind, you can purchase R6 credits to grab the rest of the operators at about the same price as the full package.

The Starter Edition is also compatible with the season pass. For more information, visit Ubisoft Support.

Oh, by the way - if you're reading this from Australia, don't lay your cash down just yet; the mysteriously inflated local price of $20 may be adjusted downwards shortly; thanks, Joab!
