ARK: Survival Evolved gets Extinction Servers that reset every month following a meteor hit

ARK: Survival Evolved recently added a new type of experience in the form of Extinction Servers. These are separate from the main game, and they get completely wiped at the end of each month, similar to seasons in Diablo 3.

At the end of each "cycle", a meteor hits the surface of the game world and all players lose everything and everything returns to starting conditions.

According to developer Wildcard, the intent is to start everyone at a level playing field every month, with the goal being just how far each player could progress during this time. Special badges will be available for those who clear milestones.

This new event/server was recently added to the Xbox One version with the v733.0 update.
