Dark Souls 3 speedrun record already below 2 hours

It's not even out and already Dark Souls 3 is being thoroughly owned.

Dark Souls 3 launches week after next, but it's already available in Japan and many a hardcore fan has grabbed the English-language version available on Japanese console networks - or an import copy.

As spotted by PC Gamer, speedrunner Jung Ho Min is one of these hardcore fans, and he's already set an impressive Any% record by putting down the final boss in 1:42:10. You can watch below if you don't mind spoiling much of the game for yourself.

This record is only going to get tighter as exploration unlocks new routes and tactics, and skilled players find ways to lower the necessary level investment before challenging end-game bosses.

That the game can be completed so quickly by the most hardcore fans says nothing about its overall difficulty, of course; that someone can knock through Dark Souls 2 in 20 minutes doesn't mean that game is easy or short. Alex has been playing a lot of Dark Souls 3 and says the lower difficulty of the earlier areas is a dirty trick.

Dark Souls 3 launches on April 12 for PC, PS4 and Xbox One.
