New Oddworld title in development for 2017 release

Oddworld: Soulstorm is the follow-up to Oddworld: New 'n' Tasty and is in development right now.

News of the title came via Twitter.

Taking place after Abe has killed Molluck the Glukkon and freed the Mudokons, he and his 300 brethren are stranded in the desert with no food, water, or shelter. They find themselves taking "solace in a strange new brew - a delicious drink that has insidious ramifications for their newfound freedom."

"There was a deeper, darker, and more sinister story that we never got to tell," said series creator, Lorne Lanning. "Soulstorm gives us the opportunity to flesh out more meat on the bones of an original spine, but re-tell the fable from a very different angle."

"Abe has a long way to go and plenty more adversity ahead. Soulstorm is going to be a much heavier trip for him."

Not much other than that has been released at this time, but there's a Twitter campaign that will reveal screens of Abe's hands, chest, and face, as they mass more followers.

Is this going to be a dark and gritty addition to the series, and is that something you want to see? Let us know your thoughts in the comments.
