Just a quick heads up for Rise of the Tomb Raider players: a new patch has been released adding support for DirectX 12.

Build 1.0.638.6 will be applied automatically when you start Steam if you have auto updates enabled. If not, just launch the game.

The Windows 10 Store version of the update will be made available in "a few days" and will automatically download when it becomes available.

According to the post, those with "the right hardware" will notice better performance when applying the DirectX 12 update along with the latest GPU drivers.

Along with DX12 support, the update adds Nvidia VXAO Ambient Occlusion technology (Steam only) as well as a new benchmark feature to allow easy comparison of performance on different systems and different graphics settings.

The patch also fixed some HBAO+ and other Ambient Occlusion issues along with motion blur problems in Stereoscopic 3D mode.

A variety of other smaller optimizations, bug-fixes and tweaks were applied.

You can read the entire update notes over on the Rise of the Tomb Raider Steam Community Page.

Thanks, Blue.
