PS4 and Xbox One combined sales at 60 million units, says EA

EA has revealed that sales of new generation consoles are in a good shape, estimating 60 million units combined for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.

That's according to EA CFO Blake Jorgensen, who told attendees at the Morgan Stanley Technology, Media, and Telecom Conference, that the market as "large." EA said in January the new-gen install base was at 55 million.

Jorgensen mentioned the numbers when talking about VR, and why the publisher has yet to commit to the fledgling tech. That's not to say EA won't be making VR games, but these will be just be vignette"-style titles, until the market size is big enough to sustain a $50-$100 million VR game.

The executive also revealed that digital amounts to 25 percent of total unit sales.
