EA no longer seeking to trademark "Ghost" following Ubisoft opposition

EA has backed down from attempting to trademark "Ghost".

EA filed for a trademark of the term "Ghost" with the United States Patent and Trademark Office, pertaining to video games back in January, and Ubisoft was not to happy about that.

The French publisher opposed EA's claim and threatened to take legal action should the filing go through, citing possible "confusion" among players, seeing as how the word can be associated with the Ghost Recon brand.

EA decided to abandon the claim, however, as seen in this application withdraw.

EA of course wanted to trademark the name of developer Ghost Games, the Need for Speed house. It's unlikely this will affect the new studio.

Thanks, NeoGAF.
