Send your companions home with delightful Fallout 4 mod

Fallout 4 players no longer need feel so guilty about making friends around the Commonwealth.

Fallout 4 mod Companions Go Home does what it says on the tin: gets your companions to return to their everyday lives when you're not traveling with them.

"It's almost game-breaking, seeing Piper talking about her sister Nat and how she's worried about her staying alone, but not being able to stop her from hanging around at Sanctuary Hills all day trying to harvest carrots," creator registrator2000 wrote.

"And Nick? A whole truckload of cases to solve back at the agency, and one assistant who probably misses him to death, and all he can do is spend the whole day packed in with all the others.

"Danse has a squad to lead back at the Prydwen. Deacon's reconnaissance missions aren't going to run themselves. X6-88 needs to get a life and stop harassing my settlers. Preston - well, Preston's the only one that seems happy to stay right where he is.

"Born out of necessity, this mod lets Piper finally go home to her sister. Nick to Ellie. Danse back to his squad. Deacon back to running missions for the Railroad. Everybody can finally resume their lives instead of being suspended in time, waiting around for you to pick them."

I have noticed a couple of occasions when companions will return to their homes - Piper and Nick Valentine will both return to Diamond City at particular story points. Most of the time, though, they act as if they'd never lived anywhere but whatever settlement you've parked them in for your own convenience.

Related: one time while I was p**sing about at Sanctuary I was surprised to see Piper's sister rock up. She was wearing a little back pack and following along behind Carla, the traveling merchant. I have no idea if this was a bug or an event, but I loved it - and it never happened again, in any of my saves. Has anyone else seen it?
