Bungie has implemented some slight changes to Skill Based Match Making in Destiny.
According to the developer, the SBMM settings are live in the zone-capture game mode Control.
Per a post on the forums, the team has taken additional steps to “increase the emphasis” on connection quality, which will further diminish lag.
Skill ratings also won’t be as large of a factor when it comes to finding a match, which means playing with friends more or less skilled “will be easier.” Because of this, opponents will be more random, so that’s something to consider.
Bungie said there is still a form of protection for casual players against “the most hardcore,” but “those considerations” will have less of an impact the matchup’s technical quality.
Damage Referee, as noted in a weekly update earlier this month, has been extended to keep track of how poor connections impact matches in Clash, Rumble, and Freelance 3v3.
