Quantum Break's TV-inspired structure will probably be used in Remedy's next project

Remedy's approach to episodic storytelling with Alan Wake and the upcoming Quantum Break will continue with whatever they make after that.

Upcoming Xbox One exclusive Quantum Break, much like Alan Wake before it, will tell stories in a structure similar to that of a TV show. The game's live-action episodes - which ship on disc - are part of this design.

After Quantum Break, Remedy's next game will only build on this design approach, according to the developer. "We have always wanted to push the storytelling in games," art director Saku Lahtinen told Xbox Achievements.

"Alan Wake taught us to take inspiration from TV shows. Quantum Break builds on that foundation and we have taken many steps in the field of character and face technology to be even better at relaying the story.

"We have learned to work with international stars, bridging storylines and an actual live-action element."

According to Lahtinen, Quantum Break takes steps towards including what's good in a TV show, as well as being a good action game at its core.

"My hunch is that our next game will be an evolution of these lessons learned, rather than attempting to conquer even more new ground," he added.

Quantum Break is out April 5.
