Destiny: The Taken King - how to get the Exotic Black Hammer "Black Spindle" easily

Right. So, you've already seen the Destiny: The Taken King Black Spindle video posted earlier. However, in this video, Arekkz Gaming has provided a walkthrough which he says will allow you to obtain the Sniper Rifle rather easily.

The rifle is a 100% drop from today's Heroic Story Mission, provided you complete it in a specific way.

Basically, you need to head to the Moon, return to the Chamber of Night and and take the shard of crystal which once held Corta’s soul. Grab the crystal, evacuate the area, go through a series of doors which require you to pick up a relic and place it in a door.

In this particular instance, if you do all of this fast enough, once you get back into the central room where you've done the House of Wolves Strike before, you go into the circular room, take a left and get teleported to the Fallen ship the Ketch. If you don't get there fast enough the door will close. If you speed run this part of the mission by running past all of the enemies you will find when you get to the room at the end, the door is open. Again, just run through the place as fast as possible.

Walk to the area where you would if you were going to do the area's Strike, and you get a message from Abraxas. He will tell you the Ketch is no longer inhabited by Fallen as it has been overrun by Taken. You are then given a 10 minute timer. This is where it gets rather nuts.

But, if you really want the Black Spindle, you will have to work your way from the starting room into the final boss room and kill all the Taken within the 10 minute timer.

The first room is rather simple as it contains a few Blights. Take them out fast as their orbs will respawn Taken. After this, make your way into the room where you would normally fight the Spider Tank. This time out, there will be some Taken Wizards and other enemies which, again, you will need to take out as soon as possible because once you get into the boss room, things get rather insane.

In the boss room there is a Taken called Driviks the Chosen. And guess what? Destroying him does not complete the mission. There are loads of Blights which will continue to spawn enemies. While the mission is doable in the time limit, you will need to take these buggers out as soon as possible. If you don't take care of the Blights and the other adds, you will get swarmed.

It took Arekkz and his team four or five times to accomplish this, because if the adds aren't disposed of, by the time you reach the door to the boss, you will be taken out in no time.

So, in order to get your lovely new rifle, take out the Blights on the left, then the right, and the one who spawns a little further down the corridor. They will continue to spawn throughout the fight so keep your eyes open. There are a finite number, though, and it also seems that sometimes they can spawn a mini-Champion such as a Knight with a Solar Shield or a Centurion with an Arc Shield. Those enemies don't seem to respawn though.

Do this in waves: go in, deal with the Blights, try to do some damage to the boss, deal with the next wave of Blights. Rinse and repeat. Also, watch out for the Blight on the balcony, because this is the one which can apparently mess things up quite a bit for players.

It is recommended you take a Stormcaller with you as they can kill most of the adds off much quicker than doing it in the normal matter. This is important because while most of the time bringing down the boss despawns the adds - that is not the case this time out.

Done properly, the mission can be accomplished in the time allotted, and maybe even give you a minute or so to spare.

After completion, will get the guaranteed Black Spindle drop which contains the same perks as the Black Hammer. It is only available in the Daily Historic Mission so if you want the weapon, make sure you do this mission today.

So, that's the gist. Around the five minute mark, Arekkz shows you the actual run instead of speeding you through it.

You'll want to watch the actual gameplay as it shows how to activate the doors, which door to take, which corridors to go down, which Blights to take care of first, and everything else you need to do in order to nab your lovely sniper rifle.
