Onimusha trademark filed by Capcom in Japan

An Onimusha trademark has been filed by Capcom in Japan.

If it is a full on new release, it will be the first since Onimusha: Dawn of Dreams.

Granted, there was Onimusha Soul released in 2012, but it was a Japanese browser-based social game.

The Sengoku-era strategy RPG featuring characters from past games in the series saw players controlling a feudal lord in a war-torn region.

It was eventually released on PlayStation 3 last year in Japan.

Hopefully, this will be a full-fledged console title, and release in the west. We're crossing our fingers at any rate, because the trademark doesn't list whether it is a console title or not.

Thanks, Gematsu.
