StarCraft, Warcraft 3 and Diablo 2 re-releases suggested by Blizzard job ad [Update]

Blizzard looks set to re-release some of its classic titles for a new generation - and those of us who want to go back in style.

Update: Blizzard has issued the following statement to Gamespot.

"We need engineers to help maintain our legacy games. We have a history of maintaining our games for many years. Our earlier games are still played and enjoyed today, so we want to continue to maintain them for those communities."

Original story: StarCraft, Warcraft 3 and Diablo 2 are explicitly name-dropped in a new job ad for a "senior software engineer, classic games".

"We’re restoring them to glory," Blizzard wrote, calling these three titles "the titans of their day".

The developer said that evolving technology has made it "more difficult" for new and old fans to enjoy these games, despite their 'compelling stories, intense multiplayer and endless replayability'.

The advertised position's responsibilities include making "gameplay first again on modern operating systems" and creating "conditions for experiences that look as good as they play".

You can view the ad on Blizzard recruiting. I wonder if any of the CD Projekt team responsible for GOG have had a peek?
