Uncharted 4’s multiplayer is to include eight brand new maps, Naughty Dog said last night.

Lead multiplayer designer Robert Cogburn also confirmed that none of the new levels would be re-hashes from previous games.

“They’re going to be new maps,” he said. When asked if they’d all be new, he answered, “Yeah.”

He said the team was “shooting for” eight maps when asked how many would be included, but didn’t expand as to whether the eight would be available at launch or added over time.

The levels shown in Uncharted 4’s multiplayer reveal trailer in Paris yesterday appeared to focus on cover and verticality, with rope-use and climbing being key play elements.

But Cogburn also confirmed that Naughty Dog has plans to add vehicles to Uncharted 4’s multiplayer after launch, making it likely new maps would need to be added to accommodate cars, trucks and the like.

Cogburn was speaking in Paris following the Uncharted 4 multiplayer reveal in Sony’s Paris Games Week press conference last night.

The first chance to try out Uncharted 4’s multiplayer will be in the beta on December 4. Only one mode, Team Deathmatch, will be included in the test.

Uncharted 4 releases for PS4 on March 18, 2016.
