Konami registers Big Boss trademark in Japan, probably for a pachinko machine

Konami has filed a trademark for 'Big Boss' through its pachinko company in Japan.

Konami's pachinko company, KPE, has filed a trademark for something called 'Big Boss.' The name presumably refers to the character in the Metal Gear Solid series.

According to Silicon Era, the trademark covers slot machines, pachinko, medal games, trading card games, board games, as well as just 'games'.

This could be just trademark maintenance, but the fact that it's been filed by the publisher's pachinko subsidiary, could point towards the name Big Boss being used in one of those machines, or in a new Metal Gear-themed one.

A recent report suggested Konami is no longer working on any AAA games outside of Pro Evolution Soccer. The publisher has however denied this report shortly after saying, "We’re still definitely working on console games and franchises such as Metal Gear, Silent Hill, Castlevania, PES and all the rest."

Whatever the case, it will surely get a trailer, just like those Castlevania and Silent Hill machines before it.
