Elite: Dangerous SteamVR support will be introduced before Christmas

Frontier has announced that SteamVR support for Elite: Dangerous will be coming later this year.

The above tweet came from Frontier PR Michael Gapper, earlier today.

VR support has always been a part of Frontier's plans.

Back when it was on Kickstarter, CEO David Braben talked about the potential for integrating VR into the experience. At the time, they were looking into Oculus Rift support, and it's flourished since then.

You'll be able to download a patch later this year to update Elite with SteamVR and HTC Vive support and get your fully immersive space battling on the go.

There's no confirmed date yet, but we'll keep you posted.
