World of Tanks confirmed for PS4, doesn't require PS Plus

World of Tanks is indeed making the jump to Sony's console.

Update:

World of Tanks publisher Wargaming made an appearance at today's SCEJA PlayStation briefing (Asia session) to confirm the PS4 port that leaked overnight.

The PS4 version will be completely free to all PSN members. PS Plus members will receive some extra goodies - free premium account time and a special tank, for example.

Two exclusive maps have been created for the PS4 version. Wargaming said it will localise for Japanese, Simplified Chinese and Korean.

The publisher confirmed this morning the PS4 version is also coming to North America and Europe.

Original article:

World of Tanks was temporarily listed on the Japanese PlayStation website overnight, apparently confirming a long awaited port.

We didn't see it ourselves, but lots of others did, including Famitsu and DualShockers. Both sites have screenshots of the listing.

Although the page has been deleted it still shows up in search results, since it was live for a couple of hours - well, it does if you're in a Tokyo hotel.

We would have expected Sony to make this announcement during the PlayStation 2015 TGS briefing yesterday, but perhaps it's holding on for the show proper - or perhaps Paris Games Week, where we know it's planning a big show.
