NHL 16 contains an all-new Be a Pro progression system

EA Sports is bringing back the Be a Pro mode in NHL 16. The player progression system has been revamped and will directly influence the type of athlete the character will grow into.

Be a Pro mode contains off-ice training which allows the player to manage their weekly workout time. This will help build the player's skill set, and since there's only a limited number of hours in the week to train, players will need to select workout hours carefully.

There's also a new Visual On-Ice Training mechanic which shows "shooting targets, passing lanes, open teammates and much more," to help players at any skill level by using this "adaptive training tool."

Finally, players will also benefit from being graded by their coach. Players will be told how well they are performing in offense, defense and team play areas, and what they need to do next in order to successfully complete certain actions.

It's all explained in the video above.

NHL 16 is coming to PS4 and Xbox One on September 15. It will also launch on PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 as the “Legacy Edition”.
