Dota 2 custom game player limit increased to 24

Dota 2 with 24 players. Wow.

Dota 2 developer Valve made a cool reveal at The International this afternoon: the player limit on custom games is being increased to 24 players.

That's a huge jump from the previous limit of ten players, and should make for some pretty crazy action. It's all thanks to Dota 2's Source 2 engine upgrade, which Valve is calling Dota 2 Reborn and also includes a new creation kit for building custom game modes.

Imagine if somebody made a custom 24 player mode with such different rules that it ended up spawning an entirely new genre of games that in turn went on to dominate a generation of eSports? Nah. Like that'd ever happen ... again.

The Dota 2 Reborn officially lunches today, but it's not clear whether 24 player support will be available immediately or turn up in the beta program first.
