Creepy supernatural puzzler Year Walk announced for Wii U

Making good on a tease from back in February, Swedish studio Simgo Games will release Year Walk on Wii U.

The game thrusts players into the dark woods of 19th century Sweden where "horrifying creatures and cryptic enigmas" await.

Players will take part in a "vision quest" to foresee the future and use the GamePad to study a folklore encyclopedia, decipher hints and take notes.

Puzzles can be solved using motion controls, and clue cues will come through the GamePad's speaker.

Based on a Swedish tradition called Årsgång (Year Walk), players take on the role of Daniel Svensson who is visiting his love interest Stina. She has apparently been proposed to, and she warns Daniel that taking a Year Walk is a dangerous thing.

Her cousin apparently died while taking part in the tradition himself.

Throughout Daniel's walk the player will come upon supernatural beings he must best by solving puzzles.

Year Walk was a hit on iOS before being ported to Steam for PC and Mac in 2014.

A release date for the Wii U version hasn't been provided, but it's listed as "coming soon".
