During today's Apple's WWDC keynote, Epic took the stage to announce that Fortnite, the studio's free-to-play sandbox shooter, is coming to Mac. The developer is targeting desktop platforms, according to a statement made to Polygon.

"The Mac version will be supported along with PC for the closed beta that starts later this year," reads the statement. A closed beta is expected in the fall for the Mac version.

The game will be based on Apple's Metal API, which is also coming to Mac with the new OS, El Capitan.
