Jaffe trolls fans with Twitter God of War announce

God of War creator David Jaffe has added more confusion to the speculation over his next project by gently teasing fans on Twitter.

God of War fans are tired of waiting to hear when the franchise will finally make the jump to PS4, and on Twitter, one suggested Jaffe is trolling fans by pretending to be working on something else.

Jaffe responded by seemingly confirming a new game, but then went on to deliver the punchline in a second tweet. Putting the two together so the key sentence isn't broken up makes the joke clear.

"F**k it - it's less than a week away and I'm allowed to confirm it anyway at this point: we ARE making a new God of War-inspired ice sculpture for my kid's birthday party! Kratos ice sculpt is so gonna rock!" he said.

The first tweet has been widely shared and the second isn't connected by a reply thread, so the fact that they form a longer sentence isn't immediately obvious. The fanbase has been boiling away in excitement ever since.

It seems that Jaffe's new project has been signed to Sony, so it's possible this is all a master game and a new Jaffe-led God of War will actually be revealed at PlayStation Experience on Friday, despite all the weird promotional materials. I doubt it, though; I think Jaffe has moved on, and some other tweeted comments from the weekend suggest he's doing something in a different line to the bombastic triple-A the God of War franchise now demands:

In addition to whatever Sony shows at PlayStation Experience, there will be a dozen world premieres at The Game Awards 2014, although not all of them are game announces. Friday's going to be exciting.
