Knock out the thief and then escape the Bastille with your new friend, Bellec.

The optional challenges are starting to get slightly more ... challenging, so stay calm and don't be afraid to restart a checkpoint if necessary. You'll need to use smoke bombs against enemies twice, and pull off three perfect parries. You can hold off on killing baddies while you keep trying for the parries.

The mission begins without a clear objective, but you can move the story along immediately by interacting with the mattress. Everything else is just window dressing.

Knock Out the Thief
Now you're fighting a guy, and after a few whacks, a tutorial exhorts you to perform perfect parries. Get three done for the optional challenge before trouncing your foe.

Kill the Guards
A couple of guards are on their way in and you've got to deal with them. There are a couple of ways to do this including a straight-forward brawl, but sneakier assassins may like to hide against the wall in the room to the side as prompted, and wait for the guards to turn their backs. It's all about stealth, innit.

Escape the Bastille
Escaping the Bastille is an honoured tradition and under normal circumstances it'd present no challenge to a hardened master like yourself, Unfortunately you have an NPC to guard, so when Bellec pauses to unlock a gate you'll have to take down a few guards. Make sure you get your perfect parries in if you haven't already, and start working on smoke bomb evasions when the second group moves in. Press the right bumper to drop a smoke bomb.

Once through the gate grab more smoke bombs if you need them and make a run for freedom through the window, ignoring the guards - especially if Bellec drops a smoke bomb, which can trigger one of the necessary evasions for your optional challenge. Trail behind Bellec, showing off your parkour skills, until he leads you into yet another battle. Make good use of that smoke bomb if you'd like the optional challenge, and take down all five guards to move forward. Follow Bellec just a little further to trigger the cutscene that ends this mission.
