Heroes of the Storm will go into closed beta in January 

During BlizzCon 2014 today, new heroes The Lost Vikings, battlegrounds, and features were shown for Heroes of the Storm, Blizzard's MOBA game which will go into open beta next year.

The game has been in the technical Alpha phase over the last eight months and closed beta testing will begin January 15.

Blizzard is sending out testing invitations on a regular basis, so make sure you have signed up for the beta through your Battle.net profile.

Heroes of the Storm started life as Blizzard All-Stars before the name change around BlizzCon 2013.

There are many playable character from Blizzard titles such as Illidan, Lady Sylvanas Windrunner, the Diablo Witch Doctor, Murky the Murloc, Diablo, The Lich King and Kerrigan.

The MOBA is a “homage” of sorts to player created mods such as Defense of the Ancients and features both Blizzard heroes and villains in one big battle.
