Darkstalkers sequels are unlikely, Ono warns

Darkstalkers Resurrection sales didn't meet targets, so don't bank on a new entry in Capcom's "other" fighter series any time soon.

A new Darkstalkers is unlikely at this point, Capcom's Yoshinori Ono said in a recent interview.

"We won't be releasing a new instalment in the Darkstalkers series any time soon, as we didn't manage to hit our sales targets for Darkstalkers Resurrection," Ono told Famitsu, as translated by EventHubs.

This is the second time Ono has linked the death of the Darkstalkers to poor sales of Resurrection.

The 2013 Iron Galaxy effort was a pretty solid package, and Capcom USA did its best to promote it, but with no luck. What a shame.

Thanks, Polygon.
