That Pokemon livestream was for a new arcade game in Japan

The Pokemon Company held a livestream today for a new game, and turns out, it was for a new Pokemon fighting game for arcades.

Called Pokken Tournament, it's being developed by Bandai Namco Games as well as Tekken series director Katushiro Harada and Soulcalibur's main programmer Masaaki Hoshino, per Gematsu.

Oh. We get it now. Pokemon + Tekken = Pokken.

A teaser shown during the stream featured Lucario and Machamp fighting it out in a Tekken-style arena.

A Wii U version was not announced, but it's possible it will eventually land on the console.

Pokken Tournament is due out in 2015. Screencaps are here and the video is below.
