There are more PS4 game announcements on the way this year

PS4 fans have even more to look forward to this year, with new game announcements expected at Tokyo Game Show 2014.

Sony Worldwide Studios boss Shuhei Yoshida is best positioned to be in the know regarding upcoming PS4 games, and he's hinted there'll be lots of good news come September.

Speaking to Famitsu, as translated by Gematsu, Yoshida said Sony's ambition at gamescom was to introduce PS4 games.

“But to be honest, in selecting the games we wanted to introduce, we realized it wasn’t possible to fit everything into the frame of the conference, so unfortunately there were some games we couldn’t introduce this time," he said.

Famitsu quite sensibly asked if that means there are more games waiting the right time to be announced.

“Yes," Yoshida said.

Famitsu, showing the dogged spirit we so greatly admire, then pressed its point, saying the that PS4 game announcements should be a key part of Sony's Tokyo Game Show activities.

“We consider it a very important point," Yoshida said.

So do we, mate. Make it so.

As well as whatever Sony has left over from gamescom, we're likely to see Japan-specific announcements; Yoshida noted that in order to help the PS4 take off locally, Sony needs more Japanese-made games.

Somehow I convinced Pat we should go to TGS again this year so I'll be on the show floor come September 18, assuming I don't suffer organ failure in the interim. If you're very lucky I might even report on some stuff and not just spend my entire trip at the Omega Force demo booths quietly stalking Akihiro Suzuki. Again.
