Watch the Guardians of the Galaxy defend pinball this week

Monday, 28th July 2014 05:59 GMT By Brenna Hillier

The Guardians of the Galaxy are headed to Zen Pinball 2 in the form of a very special DLC table.

The Guardians of the Galaxy Zen Pinball 2 table drops on July 29 for PS3, PS4 and Vita, and features Star-Lord, Gamora, Drax the Destroyer, Groot and Rocket Raccoon. It’ll set you back $3, according to the PlayStation Blog.

The table pits the Guardians against Ronan the Accuser, and kicks off with a four-ball multiball representing the escape from the Kyln. Players will also battle Yondu and the Ravagers and Nebula.

I’d love to see this as a real table; just take a look at the video below. Guardians of the Galaxy opens on August 1, which can’t come soon enough.

Normally I’d be so, so excited about this, Bren. So damned excited! I’d be jumping up and down, because the Guardians were one of my favourite super teams. But… well…

It’s not Guardians any more, Bendis ruined them, especially Rocket. :C

Rocket’s backstory is one I always injected a lot of speculation into because it always only had bits and pieces about it, but I loved it. So here’s what I took his backstory to be:

Rocket Raccoon was originally from an asylum world, staffed by robots, where the inmates suffered from various mental illnesses. The inmates were allowed to have pets with them, from various alien worlds, and the place, colloquially, was known as loony world.

At some point, however, their star flared and it overclocked the robots living on the planet. They uplifted the animal pets, and used their brains as healthy donors for the personality and knowledge of the inmates, and they were about to adopt the memories of those inmates, too, but the robots didn’t have time for that. The robots did the best they could by giving the inmates a burial at space before exploding.

This left a world of uplifted animals feeling very, very, very confused. It also explains why various animals have various accents. Rocket, with the knowledge of his human keeper, went on to become a brilliant tactician and sharpshooter, directing as many wars as fighting in them.

    Here’s Bendis’s version:

So, uh, Rocket was part of this race of NOT raccoons (don’t you dare call them raccoons) who engineered some of themselves to be EBIIIIL cyborg thug killers. So now Rocket runs around the Universe killin’ shit because he’s EBIIIIL. And not a raccoon.

    I’m sorry, you what, Bendis?

Not only that, but Rocket’s cockney accent is gone, now, too. Why? Brian “I like seeing women kicked in the vagina.” Bendis couldn’t write a cockney accent, since he writes all men and women as the same character, with the same personality, and the same accent. Even Doctor Doom.

Bendis is the worst thing that’s happened to Marvel. First Beast, now Rocket Raccoon. There’s a reason why I no longer buy Marvel. Fuck cultural diversity, right Bendis? Oh, and before it’s mentioned — nah, it’s not at all stereotypical, the accent, I mean. Rocket was popularised by two British writers who gave him the best possible personality in a Guardians run.

Another reason why Rocket had a cockney accent was because he was based off of a Beatles song (Rocky Raccoon).

Sigh. Disney buys Marvel, gives Quesada and Bendis too much power, every comic series they have is driven into the ground. And though what he did to the Guardians of the Galaxy was awful, what he did to the X-Men was even worse. I can’t even read Marvel any more because the average level of expected intelligence has dropped so harshly.

Bendis understands street, yo, and only street. Except in a stereotypical way. So all characters have to be badass and beat women.

I fucking hate Bendis. So much. His crime against my favourite characters and women in general… Bren, Steph, doooon’t look into this too much. :I It’ll just serve to make you very angry.

Oops. Missed a tag! I completely understand why you removed the edit function, though, so I’m just shaking my head at myself. :P I really need to remember to check for those. Sorry if that’s hard to read.
