Was Visceral right to delay Battlefield: Hardline?

Wednesday, 23rd July 2014 11:25 GMT By Matt Martin

Battlefield: Hardline has been delayed until 2015, but was it the right decision to make?

Visceral and DICE said last night the game was being delayed to improve the development of multiplayer features, the single-player campaign and stability issues.

Here, our Battlefield expert Westie takes you through the decisions and gives his take on the delay.

I am sure the game will benefit from the delay.
    Overall
    Good for the game.
    Bad for PR.
A win for Call of Duty this year.

I’m actually excited that this game got delayed. October is entirely to packed….plus this looks more like an add on, then an actual battlefield game.

“Was Visceral right to delay Battlefield: Hardline?”
I think that’s the wrong question.

A more suitable question would be:
“Was Visceral right to make Battlefield: Hardline?”

Because the team behind singleplayer, 3rd person survival horror adventure games is not really right for a multiplayer focused military FPS. It was a terrible and stupid mandate / decision on EA’s part which is like forcing Street Fighter devs to make Civilization 6.

Way too many games out at the end of the year, i have no regrets seeing this one slide.

Visceral was the one that pitched Hardline in the first place. Nobody forced them to do anything. I’m having trouble finding a source link right now, but I definitely read that.
