The Last of Us: Remastered price drops $10, refunds on their way

Monday, 23rd June 2014 06:36 GMT By Brenna Hillier

The Last of Us: Remastered has become slightly more affordable, which is good news for those who can’t resist grabbing the PS4 upgrade of the best-selling PlayStation 3 title.

The Last of Us: Remastered is now priced at $50 on the PSN, down from its original $60 price point, according to MCV.

Although some retailers have not adjusted their prices, and have been surly about the possibility of refunds, Sony’s Adam Boyes has said the $10 will be returned to those who made pre-orders ahead of the price drop.

Although everyone would be a little bit pissed off if it didn’t refund the difference, Sony is probably not actually legally obliged to do so thanks to a condition of its terms of service. So well done it for getting in ahead of the likely inevitable PR disaster.

The Last of Us: Remastered hits PS4 on July 29. If you’d like to see how the two versions stack up, here’s a video comparison of the PS3 and PS4 version of The Last of Us.

    Precisely why I don’t preorder games. You can always get a better deal post release. It’s not like a store (especially digital) will run out of copies of a game these days

    Well that’s good to hear. Though I’m wondering if this also applies to GameStop pre-orders as well? Also, will it be a direct refund, or will it just be $10 bucks of PSN credit?

    no doubt a price drop means no ps3>ps4 upgrade path

    while i agree that it’s best to wait, pre-orders are a good option for those who want something day one but may not have the money to get the thing when it comes out. if they’re not very good at saving, and know they have money to buy the game now but won’t when it releases, a pre-order let’s them do that.

    but, anyway, i guess that doesn’t matter here. the eu psn store doesn’t charge you for pre-orders until close to release date.

    No contest, and a physical copy to sell on or trade in should you choose to do so later

    @1: is this handled differently than in europe? because if i preorder a game here for say, 60 euro but it then retails for 50 i will get it for 50. you can preorder at any time but they only charge you as soon as the game launches so preordering is no risk at all. there are no fixed, set prices here in germany. if a retailer wants to sell a game for 20 he could do it…they don´t do it at launch though obviously. but yeah, preodering is no risk at all.

    @topic:
    does anyone know how the DLC will be handled for the PS4 version?

    i bought the season pass for PS3 but actually never played any of the DLC in the end ;)

    will i be able to buy the PS4 version and then download the DLC for it with no extra charge?

    Would really like to find that out because i enjoyed the TLOU mp quite a lot.
