Be a dude in a skirt if you like in Sunset Overdrive

Friday, 20th June 2014 20:53 GMT By Stephany Nunneley

Sunset Overdrive contains all sorts of customization options pertaining to gender, skin tone, body shape and gender-neutral clothing. Basically, is you “want to be a dude in a skirt you can be a dude in a skirt” – or a female running around in an Assassin’s Creed assassin’s outfit.

This is according to the latest Sunset TV episode from Insomniac Games, which along with appearances, mainly touches up the traps players can place for their enemies.

Sunset Overdrive is an Xbox One exclusive and is out on October 28.

Kind of a dickmove from the dev. Wonder if Ubisoft would pull that sort of immature shit if those guys ever ran into a pr debacle. I somehow doubt it.

This game sold me on buying a Xbox one. Plus Masterchief collection, all games halos 1080p 60fps. Going to b a walk down memory lane this Nov!

Ubisoft can’t afford to pull of similar shit because they don’t have the money. You see, making the female playable characters above has cost 100 million dollars per character and is impossible to due with their limited budget and team members.

Thankfully they have the diverse and interesting team of 4 cloned white male protagonists to make up for it in Assassin’s Creed Unity.

Wow, that’s one way to stay contemporary, I suppose. Though the joke rings hollow when the main character is so much of an intolerable dude-bro himself. It has the feel of a racist making fun of a sexist because they’re sexist. I just keep expecting this guy to slip up and say something truly, truly awful.

I got that vibe from day one, but the E3 trailer was just Insomniac North nodding and saying, yeah, you’re right. They’re not exactly innocent themselves, here, as they’re representing the most notable majority. I mean, at the very least, Ubisoft can claim that they’re multi-culturally representative, even if they have a lot of racist moments, but Sunset Overdrive can’t even claim that.

So the joke is lost on me. If the main character was a woman making this joke, it would ring much more truly and honestly. As it is, it just seems like an attempt to grab popularity.

@Hcw87 You could point out to him that you can actually play as a woman in the game, but he probably won’t read your post.

@TheWulf You are just undeniably fucking stupid aren’t you? I mean the fact that in the video itself they show a female character makes me think you’re nothing but a really pretentious troll with the IQ of a rock who wants to stir up shit.

@TheWulf They even let you play as different races too, so again you’re wrong and just plain stupid.
