Monday, 16th June 2014 12:01 GMT By Dave Cook

The Last of Us: Remastered is coming to PS4 on July 29, and Digital Foundry has compared the enhanced PS4 title’s visuals to those of its PS3 predecessor in a new video.

It follows confirmation from Naughty Dog’s Neil Druckmann that The Last of Us: Remastered’s visuals almost didn’t fit on its PS4 Blu-Ray.

Eurogamer explains that he Digital Foundry video below sees Naughty Dog’s cinematic remade using the same cut-scenes from the PS3 original. Check it out:

    The problem with this is that the cinematics on the PS3 were done with higher end models than the gameplay models, where as with the remaster there is no difference between cutscene and gameplay models so the scenes shown look almost identical.

    Enough of these HD remakes please…. or at least give them to me as free ps + games.

    Give us new games with adequate graphics. All this HD remaster stuff smells like quick cash ins.

    I’m willing to buy only fully remastered old gems, with completely new up to date engines. these “soft” HD remakes are a complete joke.

    @Dog4life This and similar games are more intended for people coming over to PS4 from being Xbox360 owners, people who never had a chance to play them.

    @Dog4life everyone will be happier if they release new IPs and they will. No company holds its sales just on remastered titles. But releasing old games with better visuals and DLCs is a perfect decision meanwhile. TLOU was eunning awesome on PS3. But not everyone got a chance to play it. GTAV on the other hand suffers from many glitches and now everyone has a chance to play it remastered.

    @Luciferous

    in this case they should at least release these HD remaster at a reasonable price tag. . . or even better free game for PS plus

    Look at the PC world : most FREE Graphic mods look much better than any official HD remaster ( Skyrim HD texture pack, GTA 4 etc etc)

    WoW what a silly comparison as both the trailers are using cutscene which both use the same exact models so in that regard the only difference is that the remastered version is a lot more crisper and has had the ps3 vaseline removed.

    I can see no discernable difference between the ps4 & ps3 footage shown, i’ve already completed the game on the ps3 and have preordered the ps4 remastered edition, now i cannot justify buying this game again going on what i’ve seen, its not the difference that, say, tombraider definitive edition was over the ps3 tombraider, so, er, no…Preorder pretty much cancelled.

    Not a big difference between the two, imo, a waste of money with the PS4 ver. Now, GTA V being cleaned up on PS4, thats a different story, where talking day and night difference there.

    @Dog4life CouldnĀ“t agree more, at least for a small fee like 15 bucks tops for us that already own the game :)

    Thank god I thought I was the only one not seeing much difference except for a richer color. I’d like to see more of the game

    Agree with y’all. The textures used are certainly of a larger size providing more detail– however it looks very similar — especially because they haven’t improved the lighting. Indeed, the video of GTA5 with PS4 vs PS3 was more dramatic to my eyes.
