Titanfall sequel in planning stages for PS4 – report

Monday, 9th June 2014 16:15 GMT By Stephany Nunneley

A sequel to Titanfall is purportedly “in the planning stages” for both Xbox One and PlayStation 4, according to a report on The Wall Street Journal.

The outlet cites “a person close to the development effort” for the information, and when WSJ reached out to EA, the publisher declined to comment.

In March, an unnamed source told GameSpot Titanfall 2 publishing rights would be handed to EA, and the sequel would no longer be exclusive to Microsoft consoles.

A sequel to the spring shooter was dependent on the success of the first outing, according to comments made by Respawn’s Vince Zampella, back in October. EA also alluded to such the following month.

The sequel to Titanfall could be announced at E3 today by EA during its press conference.

Exclusive to Microsoft consoles? My PC says otherwise.

It’s a sound business strategy, take a limited “exclusivity” deal with MS and front the costs for Marketing/Design stage, then when a community has been built and the IP is established, roll it out on all consoles and maximize profit.

If you’re into that sort of thing and own a PS4, I guess this is good news.

The game will never make it out on ps4. They will buy it and shut sony out. It won’t make sense for Microsoft to let the game be made for them after the hard work they put into building the title up

Too bad I don’t buy games that are coming out as sequels while original was only available on some obscure forgotten platform. Then again, I don’t buy multiplayer-only focused games to begin with, so duh.

EA put up the money. MS didn’t pay for the development of the title. They only had the rights to it which EA bought up. It will be multiplatform in the next iteration otherwise EA wouldn’t bother buying the rights to it.

Lol, all those who say the PS4 wont get Titanfall are in denial! yes Titanfall wont come top PS4, but PS4 will get Titanfall 2. EA lost out on mucho money by giving MS exclusivity thanks to the underselling Xbox One compared to PS4. They like to make money so its going to happen.
