Far Cry 4's explosive first five minutes cross E3 2014's borders

Far Cry 4’s E3 2014 footage is here. Guns. Explosions. Swear words. You know what to expect.

In the finest traditions of modern video gaming, the action kicks off with the player character doing absolutely nothing, even as lots of other people get to do a lot of terrific things like shoot each other and /or be shot.

In the finest traditions of Far Cry, our hero appears to be a bit of a useless prat (read: normal human being and not action hero/psychopath), and then a charismatic madman turns up and does terrible things and we all crack a narrative boner/moisty/other.

Then a famous pop song was played and everyone in the audience cheered. Hooray video games!

Executive producer Dan Hay explained that the footage shown was the first five minutes of the game. Players get “a fake passport, a little bit of cash and a gun” and then “after that, well - you’re fucked,” Hay said.

Hay teased a major Far Cry announcement later today, so stay tuned for that.
