Dragon Age: Inquisition has received a pair of trailers out of E3 2014, one showing a battle against a high dragon using action or tactical approaches, and another showing off members of the Inquisition.

It’s out October 7 and as we saw in this Microsoft E3 2014 trailer, it has add-on DLC first on both Xbox 360 and Xbox One.

Here’s the High Dragon trailer:

And we’re still waiting on the Inquisition character trailer. Stay tuned.

You know… I remember that in my younger years, as a tabletop gamer, I liked trying to talk down dragons using nothing more than the spoken word. I would attempt to coerce them, outwit them, intimidate them, coax them, appeal to their vanity, or whatever else was necessary to avoid a confrontation. Very often, that would actually work, because dragons were the foray of introverts back then.

It was a time when ‘fantasy’ was barely developed, everything was still ‘sci-fi’ at the time, and it was completely okay to have elements of both in there. You could have a dragonrider finding a spork and being stunned by the fact it bends, there were no rules against that sort of thing, nothing was conservative, everything was possible.

Now it’s turned into a big male power fantasy, and the only option is to kill the dragon. Is it so bad to want to reason with the dragon instead? I’d love to actually have that option, to try and worm my way out of a fight by any means possible, and potentially pick myself up a new ally in the process.

I dunno, I just don’t see why we have to kill it. Oh, it’s ugly. Right. Go ahead, then.
