The Invasion pack features new maps Mutiny, Pharaoh and Departed, along with returning Modern Warfare 2 environment Favela and a new Extinction chapter called Awakening.

It launched for Xbox One and Xbox 360 on June 3, and should hit PlayStation formats and PC in coming weeks. The version you see running in the videos below is Xbox One, and I have to admit; these maps are some of the better locales Ghosts has to offer.

Let's crack on with the videos and some tips:

Mutiny

It's a bloody pirate-themed map, which should appeal to fans of sea dogs everywhere. At Mutiny's centre lies a spooky galleon docked at port, and it serves as the map's focal point, offering three tiers from which to snipe and an interior cabin. The surrounding shanty town is full of walkways and staircases leading towards the middle, while its dingy taverns are superb for shotgun and SMG users. Be wary of long-range players here, that's the key.

Pharaoh

This is a big map that is rammed full of wide open areas funnelling off down multiple routes. That's a problem for those who want to stand still and play it cautious, because no matter where you are, you can be seen from various angles. The trick here is to keep moving but do so at a considered pace. Get your scope up, lean around corners and don't charge in blindly.

Next up: Departed and Favela.

Favela

This map was great fun in Modern Warfare 2 and it's essentially a like-for-like remake with some new assets to keep it feeling fresh. One team starts at the top of the hill while the other begins at the bottom, making height a genuine factor. There are so many routes along the rooftops just begging to be used, and if you're smart about it, you can use these to get the drop on lingering snipers. Also, remember that those cars will explode.

Departed

Lastly, Departed takes place during the Mexican Day of the Dead festival and it's quite an old-school map in that it's urban and boasts plenty of back streets and only a few significant shifts in elevation. Some alleys are long however, so you need to take time to look ahead for people lying in wait with their gun drawn. As a bonus, completing a special field order in Departed will see a player transformed into a juggernaut death Mariachi. That's only slightly terrifying.
