Star Citizen has now raised $44 million total through its crowdfunding efforts, Roberts Space Industries has announced.

The letter goes on to discuss the Stellar Cartography feature for those who pledged the latest milestone, and details the Updated Scanning Software which will be developed should the project hit $46 million.

Voting is also in place for the game’s final stretch goal.

Star Citizen is expected on PC in 2015.

Thanks, Blue.

Ridiculous amounts of money and so far have less to show for it than Elite Dangerous. Dont get me wrong I want both games to succeed. I will be in the Elite Beta at the end of the week and will have the chance to meet David Braben next month via work who are investing.

@themadjock Elite has had years more of production time, private investment, a studio that was already up and running, an engine that was tailor-made with Elite in mind, lower fidelity, and smaller in scope.
I’m looking forward to Elite as well, and I’ve pledged. It looks to be a great game. But there’s reasons it’s further along in development.
