Square Enix has yet to publish its financial results for the fiscal year ended March 31, 2014, but it has raised its net sale projection considerably, suggesting it’s had a bumper year.

Polygon reports that Square Enix raised its net sales projection for the year from ¥140 billion / $1.37 billion to ¥155 billion yen / $1.52 billion.

The site adds that Square’s operating income, ordinary income and net income are also expected to see raised projections.

Square’s attached notice has highlighted strong sales of Dragon Quest Monsters Super Light along with ‘favourable’ sales of Thief, Final Fantasy X/X-2 HD Remaster and Tomb Raider Definitive Edition.

We’ll have more once the full financial report drops. Stay tuned.

So how about FFXII HD? or a new Parasite Eve? :)

I was about to say something about the “Tomb Raider” sales, but then I realized they’re talking about definitive edition only, so they probably had low expectations for that to begin with. As far the FFX/X-2 HD Remaster, I know the majority of those sales are a result of FFX and FFX-2 is just an extra to a lot of people, but it annoys me that I know Squeenix is going to take those sales as a sign that people like and support the crap they pulled with FFX-2.

I notice they haven’t said anything about Lightning Returns yet. Maybe it’s too soon, or maybe, hopefully, it didn’t sell very well compared to what they wanted to get out of it.

@Obernox While I’d love a new, proper Parasite Eve that makes 3rd Birthday completely noncanon, unfortunately I think Squeenix would just try to reinforce that game as canon if anything. They’ve also gone past the proper window of making up for that game in my eyes, and things like the “Final Fantasy IV Collection” and the FFX/FFX-2 HD Remaster suggest that if they ever do anything with Parasite Eve again, it’ll be to bundle 3rd Birthday in with the actual, proper games in the franchise.
