Sunset Overdrive details emerge from latest issue of Edge

Sunset Overdrive, the Xbox One exclusive from Insomniac Games, is featured in the May issue of Edge magazine, and quite a few details on the title were revealed in the preview.

According to the magazine, Sunset Overdrive combines "blue skies and punk rock of Crazy Taxi, the speed and style of Jet Set Radio, the grindable city of Tony Hawk's Project 8 and the firepower of any Insomniac shooter".

The open-world will feature gameplay elements such as "wall-running, mantling, grinding," and shooting the zombie-like folks running around the city, according to CVG.

Crazy weapons like the "Roman candle firework launcher", a teddy bear grenade launcher powered by a fire-extinguisher, and a vinyl record launcher are just a few.

According to the storyline, a company called Fizzco is set to release an energy drink called Overcharge Delirium XT. Sunset City residents are partaking in the beverage during the launch party, when all hell breaks loose.

Your character may not have been invited to the party due to janitorial duties, but when "the OD'd" start to overrun the city causing Fizzco to rope off that section of the city, you are stranded within.

The cordoned off section of the open world city is made up of island, each with day and night cycles, and each different from the last. Friendly and hostile factions exist within these limits, as do NPCs providing side quests

Sunset Overdrive will be shown off at E3 in June, at San Diego ComicCon in July, at Gamescom in August, and at PAX Prime in August, according to the teaser site.

A release date has yet to be provided.
