Pokkén Fighters and Pokkén Tournament trademarked in Europe

The Pokémon Company has filed trademarks for Pokkén Fighters and Pokkén Tournament, a project it was adamant didn't exist last time the topic was aired.

Screenshots of the trademarks can be viewed on AllGamesBeta and appear legitimate after a cursory examination; The Pokémon Company is listed as the applicant, via a well-known law firm.

Pokkén Fighters is a fighting game starring Pokémon, or perhaps it's more accurate to say that it's the idea of such a game; a concept trailer and US trademarks appeared in August 2013, but at the time The Pokémon Company said no such title was under development.

These new trademarks don't mean that situation has changed; it makes sense for the company to file trademarks whenever it floats a concept internally, just on the off-chance, to avoid legal issues (sort of like defensive domain registrations, to fend off squatters).

That said, if you want to dream this beautiful dream nobody is going to stop you.
